Cafe Volan, Asbury Park

It isn’t so often we get the chance to see a familiar face these days. With such minimal human interaction, moments like these suddenly hold meaning. As the world slows down maybe we begin to express our appreciation for the smaller things. Maybe we begin to realize all that was taken for granted, like the simple act of sitting down in a space that has become all too familiar to you, so much so that you can still hear the light clicking of nails on a keyboard, the grinding of espresso beans, small chatter. Background noise. You can taste the first sip of your favorite drink, and the sweet and earthy scent of roasted beans filling the space, your space. A space that inspires your creativity or a space to clear your mind. Book in hand, headphones in, or maybe, nothing at all. I imagine so many of us long for the day we can see smiling faces again, bare and raw emotions written in the curve of someone’s mouth. But until then there is so much to gather from people’s eyes. "We are proud and excited to be open and safely serving contactless curbside pickup. Customers can order from our website and have their orders ready to go at their requested pickup time. Although we miss the community gathering within the cafe and all that comes with it, it is such a pleasure to even wave through the window to our regulars and make their day a little better with some coffee or avocado toast."

Some of life’s simplest things, like a warm cup of coffee from our favorite cafe can certainly make the mundane a little bit more remarkable.
